Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is produced and maintained by anxiety. The sufferer may engage in repetitive and compulsive behaviours and thoughts as a way of trying to switch off fears, doubts and anxieties.

Eventually however, the attempted ‘solution’ becomes the problem as the person spends more and more time and energy engaging in the OCD behaviour. Uncommon therapy will focus on the trance like quality of OCD behaviour and seek to change the feelings and associations around OCD. The rewind technique will often be used to remove the fear of 'what might happen' from the OCD, giving it less control over you. Because long-term OCD also erodes your basic needs, your Uncommon Therapist will also take into consideration your current lifestyle and history.
